Cue the mariachis. BelAir Cantina is coming to Drexel Town Square. The announcement was made by the city of Oak Creek July 15.
BelAir Cantina will anchor the first of two mixed-use buildings featuring 64 luxury apartment homes and 33,000 square feet of retail. Phelan Development and WiRED Properties are co-developers of the Main Street portion of Drexel Town Square.
“This is the first of several anticipated announcements about retail tenants for the ground floor of Drexel Town Square’s Main Street buildings,” said Jerry Franke, president – WISPARK LLC.
The 4,200-square-foot BelAir Cantina restaurant will feature an outdoor patio and will offer its popular California-Mexican menu. Catering also will be available.
It's the fourth location for BelAir in the greater Milwaukee area. Bel Air welcomes diners at its N. Water Street location in downtown Milwaukee, on Downer Avenue on Milwaukee’s east side and on North Avenue in Wauwatosa.
“Our number one goal was to land a branded local restaurant group on Main Street. We couldn’t ask for a better fit. BelAir’s fresh concept to food and design and their creative approach to outdoor seating make them the ideal retailer to anchor Main Street and the square,” said Sean Phelan of Phelan Development.
Attesting to the popularity of BelAir Cantina, Oak Creek Mayor Steve Scaffidi noted that the city’s Facebook announcement about BelAir Cantina had more than 25K views within hours of the posting making it “the most popular post we've ever done,” Scaffidi said.
Construction of the restaurant will begin later this summer; BelAir Cantina is expected to open in the summer of 2016.
