Coffee, clothing and lodging added to mix at DTS

More good news continues as retailers announce plans to locate at Drexel Town Square. In recent weeks announcements have included the addition of Valentine Coffee’s cafe that will open in the Emerald Row mixed-use apartment building, the addition of Mode, a woman’s boutique clothing retailer, and approval of a 112-room Marriott TownePlace Suites hotel.

Valentine Coffee Co. will have 48 seats on the first floor and mezzanine of the Main Street Emerald Row apartments. A warm-weather patio will seat 52 customers. The café, the second in the greater Milwaukee area, will serve food all day. It also operates a tasting room at its roastery on W. Vliet Street in Milwaukee. Rinka Chung Architecture is designing the café, which is expected to open later this year.

"Valentine Coffee will be another exciting new destination spot for residents and visitors to Drexel Town Square in Oak Creek," said Oak Creek Mayor Stephen Scaffidi, "It adds to the already great mix of restaurants and retail that will be on the site, and something that people have been asking for. Our coffee aficionados will be very happy."

Mode is a contemporary women’s boutique that carries cult brands like AG Jeans, Ella Moss, Eva Franco, Frye, Hudson, Lucy, Sanctuary, Seven for All Mankind, Splendid, Susana Monaco and Ugg. Its other location is at N. 91st and W. North Avenue in Wauwatosa. Owner Patrice Bouchard said the new location at DTS, which will debut sometime in August or September, will occupy 1,800 square feet on the street level of Main Street.

The Oak Creek City Plan Commission approved the proposed 112-room Marriott TownePlace Suites hotel at its April 26, 2016, meeting. The hotel will be built at 7980 S. Market St., in the Drexel Town Square property. The four-story hotel will be developed by Drexel Square Hotel Group LLC, based in Los Ranchos, N.M., according to plans filed with the city. It will include a fitness center and swimming pool, but no restaurant, according to those plans. The TownePlace Suites replaces a previously approved plan for a 108-room Four Points by Sheraton hotel. The hotel will be located directly east of Oak Creek City Hall and Oak Creek Public Library.

WISPARK LLC, the real estate development subsidiary of WEC Energy Group is the master developer for this site. The property is owned by One West Drexel LLC, which is a public/private partnership of the City and the developer designed to oversee the development of the property. Other entities that are part of the development team include Zilber Property Group, Ramboll Environ, GRAEF, Rinka Chung Architects, KM Development Corp. and Mid-America Real Estate Group.
