Construction work on target to make progress before winter

Construction work on a number of properties within Drexel Town Square in Oak Creek is continuing at a fast clip to beat the challenges of winter weather.

The Chick-fil-A restaurant is expected to open in November. PetSmart, with a footprint of 12,250 square feet, expects to open in May 2016. Construction is also under way for the two apartment complexes in the Town Square being developed by Barrett Lo Visionary, which is constructing 147 luxury apartments on the west side of the development, and Blair Williams’ WiRED Properties, which is developing 64 luxury apartments along Main Street.

The Water Street Brewery opened in July 2015. The Meijer store and fueling station/convenience store opened in August 2015.

Work is proceeding on the 108-room hotel.

Perhaps some of the best news for the community and local residents is the new City Hall and Library will relocate to the Town Square. The opening is Oct. 19. Photo at left shows the Library and City Hall buildings.

The Town Square section, which also features an amphitheater, shaded structures, splash pad, farmers market and ice rink, will be completed in November.

On the western side of the 85-acre-site, work on the wetlands area which covers 20 acres is nearly complete. The wetlands feature a special eco system to provide a robust environment for wildlife, including birds and butterflies.
